English 8 - Week of 4/26 - 4/29

Monday 4/26 - I will introduce the process for formal debate. As a class, we will begin to brainstorm topics for debates. Students should come to class on Wednesday with a debate topic written in the form of a "resolution." HW:2) Graduation reflection worksheet due tomorrow 4/26. 2)Debate "resolution" due Wednesday 4/27
Tuesday 4/27 - Using graduation reflection worksheet, students will write graduation reflections. HW: Email edited and completed graduation reflection to me on Tuesday night.
Wednesday 4/28 - Narrow debate topics to five. Students will be divided into teams of six to plan and prepare formal debates. Students must research both sides of the topic and will not be told whether he is she is on the "affirmative' and "negative" team until closer to the debates. Students need an ample supply of 3x5 note cards for both debate research and social studies research.
Thursday 4/29 - Debate research in class.
